We’re very excited to announce that our THAILAND 180º book is now available all around Bangkok’s old royal historic area, Rattanakosin Island, and in most museum gift shops, including the National Gallery Bangkok, as well as at many university bookstores all over Thailand. It’s even at one of my favorite bookstores, Rim Khob Fa Bookstore, located by the Democracy Monument on historic Ratchadamnoen Road! I think this is the first book of its kind, and maybe shows the country in a more complete way than conventional photography. The book itself, is very much a collector’s edition, as from now on, our books will probably be smaller, have a lot fewer photos and more text. The collector’s edition is more for someone, perhaps, that knows Thailand and doesn’t want to read what every other book has already printed or maybe an armchair traveler that loves big picture books. Also, it is printed, almost handmade, by a USA company that specializes in art books and we took all of the high-quality options. For example, the circular area of the image, has an extra coat of gloss lacquer, to make the image pop and the binding is hand stitched.

Being a photographer, first, I wanted to use as many photos as possible and let them tell the story. We wanted people that viewed the book to get immersed in the images and not be distracted by a bunch of words.

We organized the book very simply, using the six regions of Thailand as divisions, and included a map of the country on the back, delineating the regions. We were very careful with the photo caption research, so those that wanted to can get more information on the internet. Also, the “Behind the Scenes” stories on our blog, give detailed information and anecdotes about many of the images. In fact, as our blog becomes more complete, it really works well with our book, providing complete information about most of the photographs.

We had a lot of fun making this book and I think it really shows. I hope that everyone that has been to Thailand, or is thinking of visiting the kingdom, will have a chance to look through this book. I think you’ll be surprised at how much there is to see within this relatively small country!
