Inle Lake, Myanmar

Inle Lake, Myanmar, as seen in the book MYANMAR 180º.“Tomatoes and other crops are grown using age-old hydroponic methods.  Man-made island floats of matted organic material are anchored in the lake and can provide up to 15 years of fertile farm “land” before it is recycled and a new island is fabricated.  In addition to fishing and farming, the people of Inle Lake engage in many cottage industries such as weaving, cheroot rolling,  paper making, and umbrella manufacturing, to name just a few.  Travel on Inle Lake is very surreal in the evening, as the water on the lake becomes calm and mirrors the sky.” ~ from the book, MYANMAR 180º
