Bangkok, AKA “The City of Angels”, is such a huge space-age looking city. Yes, they’re traffic jams, pollution, and crowds, along with the heat and humidity, but the modern architecture, the ubiquitous temples and food stands, and the “Thainess” of this place, make it a unique 21st century city, that will always hold a special place in my heart. —– In our blog today, we are going to talk about the landmarks of Bangkok, for you to mark as a meeting point / starting point / must selfie spot .. many people love these landmarks. There might be some that you love, let’s check them out!!
กรุงเทพมหานคร “พระนครอันกว้างใหญ่ดุจเทพนคร” เมืองหลวงของประเทศไทยที่ผู้คนหลั่งไหลเข้ามาสู่ศูนย์กลางทางเศรษฐกิจ แน่นอนว่ามีการจราจรคับคั่ง ผู้คนหนาแน่น มลพิษและฝุ่นควัน อันเป็นปกติธรรมดาของมหานครทุกแห่งทั่วโลก แต่สิ่งที่ทำให้กรุงเทพฯ โดดเด่นและมีเสน่ห์ คือ สถาปัตยกรรมไทยที่งามล้ำค่าอย่าง พระบรมมหาราชวัง และวัดวาอารามต่างๆ ที่แทรกตัวและถูกรายล้อมด้วยตึกสูงระฟ้า —– วันนี้ THAILAND 180º จะแนะนำสถานที่อันเป็นจุดสำคัญหรือแลนด์มาร์คของกรุงเทพมหานคร เผื่อหลงทางจะได้ใช้เป็นจุดนัดพบ/จุดเริ่มต้น/จุดสังเกต/จุดเซลฟี่ .. แต่หลายๆ ท่านก็เพลิดเพลินเดินชมจนหลงรักแลนด์มาร์คของกรุงเทพฯ ไปแบบไม่ทันรู้ตัวเหมือนเรานี่แหละ!!

The Victory Monument
1. The Victory Monument is our first landmark. Its a very crowded point in the Bangkok city center which has various public transportation modes including buses, vans, sky train, taxis, etc. Over 100,000 people pass by here each day. The Victory Monument commemorates the Thai victory in the Franco-Thai War and is designed in the shape of five bayonets clasped together at the height around 50 meters. Five bronze casting sculptures were executed by the Italian sculptor Corrado Feroci or Silpa Bhirasi that represent the army, navy, air force, police and militia. I used to use these figures as landmarks to remember which bus goes where. I spent lots of time opposite the man holding a huge bullet, waiting for a bus to take me home.
๑. เริ่มกันที่อนุสาวรีย์ชัยสมรภูมิ นับเป็นจุดสำคัญอันดับแรกของหลายท่าน จนแทบจะเรียกได้ว่าเป็นศูนย์กลางการคมนาคมเดินทางที่มีระบบขนส่งสาธารณะให้เลือกทั้งรถเมล์ รถตู้ รถไฟฟ้า และรถสาธารณะอื่นๆ ซึ่งมีคนสัญจรผ่านไปมานับแสนในแต่ละวัน อนุสาวรีย์ชัยสมรภูมิสร้างขึ้นเพื่อเทิดทูนวีรกรรมของของนักรบ ๕ เหล่า คือ ทหารบก ทหารเรือ ทหารอากาศ ตำรวจ และพลเรือน ที่เสียชีวิตไปในกรณีพิพาทระหว่างไทยกับฝรั่งเศสเรื่องการปรับปรุงพรมแดนไทยกับอินโดจีนฝรั่งเศส ออกแบบโดยหม่อมหลวงปุ่ม มาลากุล โดยออกแบบให้มีลักษณะเป็นดาบปลายปืนซึ่งเป็นอาวุธประจำกายทหาร ๕ เล่มรวมกัน ให้ปลายดาบชี้ขึ้นบน ส่วนคมของดาบหันออก เรียงเป็นกลีบแบบลูกมะเฟือง ก่อสร้างด้วยคอนกรีตเสริมเหล็กประดับหินอ่อน มีความสูงประมาณ ๕๐ เมตร และมีรูปปั้นหล่อทองแดง ขนาดสองเท่าคนธรรมดา ภายใต้การควบคุมของ ศาสตราจารย์ศิลป์ พีระศรี

2. Avoid the traffic jam by taking a skytrain to the Chong Nonsi BTS station. The BTS skytrain is a rail system that looks something like a monorail, and was officially opened on December 5th, 1999. The skytrain currently has 2 lines; a Silom line and a Sukhumvit line. Some stations have elevated sidewalks called “Skywalks” that connect to stores or other transportation hubs. In the photo above is the Chong Nonsi Skywalk that connects to the Bangkok Rapid Bus, or BRT. Sometimes when you look up, there is a fantastic view and it feels like you’re flying around the city in the 21st century. In some areas you can leave your hotel, go shopping, dining and dancing, without ever touching the ground!
๒. ไปนั่งรถไฟฟ้า แอร์เย็นๆ เหาะเหิร เดินอากาศท่ามกลางตึกระฟ้า ราวกับลอยอยู่บนฟ้าของกรุงเทพมหานครแห่งศตวรรษที่ ๒๑ ถึงที่หมายในเวลาอันรวดเร็ว …ถึงแล้ว! สถานีรถไฟฟ้าบีทีเอสช่องนนทรี ที่นี่มีสกายวอล์คที่สวยและโดดเด่นดูดีมากๆ เชื่อมระหว่างสถานีรถไฟฟ้าบีทีเอสช่องนนทรีและรถบีอาร์ทีสถานีสาทรเพื่ออำนวยความสะดวกในการเดินทางเชื่อมต่อระบบขนส่งสาธารณะในกรุงเทพ สกายวอล์คดีไซน์ทันสมัยด้วยโครงเหล็กโค้งและเปิดโล่งตรงกลางทำให้มองเห็นตึกสูงอยู่รายล้อม มีพื้นที่ทางเดินโล่งและกว้าง ซึ่งหลายท่านจะชอบขึ้นมาชมวิวหรือถ่ายรูป นับเป็นแลนด์มาร์คแห่งใหม่ที่สวยงามทั้งยามกลางวันและกลางคืนจริงๆ นอกจากนี้บางสถานียังมีสกายวอล์คเชื่อมต่อระหว่างโรงแรม ศูนย์การค้า ร้านอาหาร และอื่นๆ ทำให้เดินออกจากโรงแรมไปเที่ยวชม ชิม ช้อป กันแบบไม่ต้องสัมผัสพื้นราบกันเลย!

3. I remember my first day in Thailand and my first ride down the Chao Phraya River, where I caught my first glimpse of Wat Arun or Temple of the Dawn. There it was on the west side of the river with its prangs in a quincunx design, shinning in pearly iridescence. This temple gets its name from the Hindu god Aruna, whose chariot is often depicted as the rising sun. This temple dates back to the seventeenth century, but its main prang was built early in the nineteenth century. Be sure to climb up the steps of the temple for a great view of the river and Grand Palace, as well as getting a closer look at the mosaics that encrust it.
๓. นั่งเรือด่วนชมวิวแม่น้ำเจ้าพระยา ไปจนถึงวัดอรุณราชวราราม แลนด์มาร์คที่ติดตาตรึงใจแก่ทั้งชาวไทยและชาวต่างชาตินี้คือ พระปรางค์วัดอรุณฯ สถาปัตยกรรมที่โดดเด่นเฉพาะตัวแห่งรัตนโกสินทร์ จากพระปรางค์ที่สร้างขึ้นเพื่อสักการะองค์เทพในศาสนาพราหมณ์ผนวกกับมหาเจดีย์ที่สร้างด้วยศรัทธาในธรรมแห่งพระพุทธศาสนา ทำให้เกิดศิลปกรรมรูปแบบใหม่เป็นพระเจดีย์ทรงปรางค์ โดยหันหน้าไปทางทิศตะวันออกและแม่น้ำเจ้าพระยา ประดับตบแต่งด้วยเครื่องกระเบื้องเคลือบมีลวดลายที่ทำสำเร็จแล้วจากประเทศจีน ถ้วยชามไทย และเปลือกหอยสี นำมาเลือกเรียงติดเข้าเป็นลวดลายต่างๆ ที่งดงามประทับใจนักท่องเที่ยวจากทั่วโลก

4. Just across the Chao Phraya River, there is a reclining Buddha image at Wat Pho which is based on a popular story in Buddhist folklore, when the Buddha made himself appear gigantic, in order to humble a giant named Asurindarahu. It’s 15 meters high and 43 meters long. The huge mother-of-pearl inlaid feet show the 108 auspicious characteristics of the Buddha. The compound is covered with detailed murals and large columns support the roof. Surrounding the image are 108 small bronze bowls in which visitors drop coins for good luck and to help pay for the maintenance of the temple. The sound of the coins being dropped in the bowls makes some unique music.
๔. นั่งเรือข้ามฟากมาที่วัดโพธิ์ หรือ วัดพระเชตุพนวิมลมังคลาราม ชมความงามของพระพุทธไสยาส สร้างขึ้นในสมัยรัชกาลที่ ๓ โดยเชื่อกันว่าเป็นปางโปรดอสุรินทราหู เป็นพระพุทธรูปปูนปั้นปิดทอง ลักษณะบรรทมตะแคงขวา พระบาททั้งซ้ายและขวาซ้อนเสมอกันและมีลายมงคล ๑๐๘ ประดับมุกบนฝ่าพื้นพระบาททั้งสอง ภายในวิหารพระพุทธไสยาสเหนือแนวหน้าต่างมีภาพเขียนเรื่อง มหาวงศ์ นอกจากนี้ยังมีตักบาตรเหรียญ ๑๐๘ ในบริเวณด้านหลังพระนอนด้วย

5. Walk a little further to Wat Phra Kaew, or Temple of the Emerald Buddha, which is located on the grounds of the Grand Palace in the historic center of Bangkok. It is the most sacred Buddhist temple in the Kingdom of Thailand. Inside the main building is the much treasured and respected Emerald Buddha image. The image is 26 inches tall and carved from a single piece of jade stone. There are many legends surrounding this statue that a Thai visitor or tour guide might enjoy sharing with you. The grounds around the temple and the palace are amazing showcases of Thai Buddhist art and architecture. The 178 panels of murals, depicting the Ramakien or Ramayana that is said to be the longest painting in the world. Wat Phra Kaew & the Grand Palace is a must see landmark of Bangkok and all of Thailand!
๕. เดินต่อมาถึงวัดพระศรีรัตนศาสดาราม หรือ วัดพระแก้ว วัดในพระบรมมหาราชวังซึ่งเป็นที่ประดิษฐานพระพุทธมหามณีรัตนปฏิมากร ซึ่งภายในอาณาบริเวณวัดพระแก้วจากภาพนี้ประกอบด้วยปราสาทพระเทพบิดร, พระสุวรรณเจดีย์, พระอุโบสถ, พระอัษฎามหาเจดีย์ (พระปราง ๘ องค์), ยักษ์ทวารบาล, และพระระเบียง ที่พระระเบียงนี้มีภาพจิตรกรรมจากวรรณคดีเรื่องรามเกียรติ์ จำนวนทั้งสิ้น ๑๗๘ ห้อง เรียงต่อกันยาวตลอดทั้งสี่ทิศ อันเป็นภาพจิตรกรรมฝาผนังที่ยาวที่สุดในโลก วัดพระแก้วเป็นแลนด์มาร์คที่สำคัญและห้ามพลาดทั้งคนไทยและคนต่างชาติ ต้องมาเยี่ยมชมให้ได้สักครั้งนึงจริงๆ

6. Bangkok is known in Thai as the “City of Angels” and the guardian deity that protects Bangkok resides at Lak Mueang. This is a great place to watch Thais merit making and praying, as worshipers come from all over to pay respect or ask for favors from the deity. The pillar was first erected in 1782 and the shrine was the first building to be built in the new capital city, Bangkok. Today, there are two pillars in the shrine. The taller one is the original, while the shorter on was added by King Mongkut during his reign.
