Introducing Our THAILAND 180º Interactive Map/Blog
When we first planned our book, we talked about many different ways of organizing it. Although we considered putting like subject matter together, such as temples or food, etc; as we were traveling around Thailand we decided to organize it by regions. This way, one can really see the difference in culture, food, and activities of the different areas. We designed word cloud division pages to mark the start of each region using the names of the provinces within the region.

Then we created a map with each of the areas in different colors and used it on the book’s back jacket cover. By eliminating lots of text in our book, we were able to fill it with images. We did spend a great deal of time using captions for the photos with the most popular spelling of the Thai words in English so that they can easily be researched on the internet and our ever-growing blog provides updated information. Generally, we update our blog every Tuesday or Wednesday and announce the update on our facebook fan page. If you want to make sure you get the latest announcements, you have to click “Like” on the page AND make sure you select “See First” in the drop down menu on our page Here. Otherwise, the, um, good folks at facebook won’t show you our posts. 😡

Finally, we’ve created an interactive map that makes it easy to read about many of the photos in our book. Okay, the book contains over 450 photos, so this is still a work in progress. I hope that one day we have a blog article about every image and we will update the interactive map as we go. Just click on the map below to get started. Find a marker, click on it to view the photo and click on the link to view the blog about the image. It’s fun! Go ahead and give it a try…

About the Authors
Photographer George Edward Giunca, and his Thai wife, Apisatha, have traveled around Thailand armed with a circular fisheye lens to create a photo essay on the rich cultural diversity, and abundant natural beauty of the Kingdom of Thailand. Fleeing from angry water buffaloes, slapping huge mosquitoes, watching exotic festivals and religious rituals, gorging on delicious spicy food, applying aloe vera cream to sunburned skin, wading through rice paddies, getting drenched to the bone by heavy monsoon rains, and gawking at breath-taking scenery; made it a journey of epic proportions! The result is the book, THAILAND 180º. Later, they traveled extensively through Myanmar, Malaysia, and India, gathering a massive collections of 180º photos. They currently live in Chiang Mai where they continue to blog and are now working on a CHIANG MAI 180º book.
