Happy Birthday, Lord Krishna!
Today is Krishna Janmashtami, the birthday of Krishna, which falls on the eighth day of Bhadrapada month on the Hindu calendar and sometime between August and September on the Gregorian calendar. In India, there are huge celebrations in Mathura, Dwarka, Mumbai, and many Vaishnava temples in Tamil Nadu. Besides the celebrations in India, it is also widely celebrated throughout the world. Because of the of West’s interest in the Bhagavad Gita and the Mahabharata that tell of Krishna’s adventures and teachings, his birthday is fervently celebrated from New York to New Zealand.
Since Krishna is believed to be the eighth avatar of Lord Vishnu, the temples that follow the Vaishnavism tradition and ISKCON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness) temples will perform rituals, fast, pray, sing bhajans, and prepare special food, especially sweets. After midnight, which is thought to be the birth hour of Krishna, statues of baby Krishna are washed, candles are lighted, the fast is broken, and the prepared food and sweets are shared in a festive atmosphere.

พระกฤษณะ เป็นอวตารปางที่ 8 ของพระนารายณ์หรือพระวิษณุ ดังนั้นวัดต่างๆของ #ไวษณพนิกาย และสาวกพระกฤษณะในเครือวัด #ISKCON ก็จะมีผู้คนมาประกอบพิธีสวดมนต์, ถือศีลอดอาหารอดน้ำไปจนถึงเที่ยงคืน, ร้องเพลงสรรเสริญ, เตรียมอาหารสำรับพิเศษเพื่อรับประทานร่วมกันหลังถือศีล และหลายเมืองมีการจัดงานเฉลิมฉลองยิ่งใหญ่กว่าที่อื่นๆ โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งในเมืองมธุรา, ทวารกา, มุมไบ และวัดฮินดูไวษณพนิกายหลายแห่งในรัฐทมิฬนาฑู

The result is the book, THAILAND 180º. Later, they traveled extensively through Myanmar, Malaysia, and India, gathering a massive collection of 180º photos. They currently live in Chiang Mai where they continue to blog and are now working on a CHIANG MAI 180º book.
